Six dead cows with their tongues “completely removed” were discovered along a state highway in east-central Texas, leaving Texas authorities baffled. According to CNN, which cited authorities, the lack of visible signs of blood loss further perplexed the investigators.
A 6-year-old longhorn/cross cow that had been killed and dismembered was discovered by ranchers in Madison County, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office stated on Facebook on Wednesday. The sheriff’s office stated that after reports of comparable mutilations spread around the state, efforts to coordinate amongst departments were under way.
The sheriff’s office reported that the animal’s tongue had been cut out precisely surgically and without any “blood spill.” A “straight, clean cut, with apparent precision” was also used to remove the hide on one side of her mouth.
The grass around the cows appeared to be unaffected by the occurrence, therefore officials claim that the cows did not appear to struggle. They said that no tyre traces or footprints were found nearby.
“It was noted that the cow’s surroundings showed no evidence of fighting, and the grass was unaltered. No tyre traces or footprints were found nearby, according to the authorities.
While inquiring into the death of the longhorn-cross, the detectives discovered five additional cows that had been discovered in a similarly horrific state. According to officials, each cow came from a distinct pasture and herd and was discovered in a different spot along the state highway in the surrounding counties of Brazos and Robertson.
A circular cut had also been made, removing the anus and external genitalia from two of the cows. The sheriff’s office stated that “this circular cut was made with the same precision as the cuts noted around the jaw lines of each cow.”
The cow’s carcasses were left to rot for several weeks without being harmed by predators or birds, according to ranchers. None of the six cows’ official causes of death have been established as of yet.
The Facebook post stated that the “Madison County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death and mutilation of cattle along TX-OSR.”
It claimed that its detectives are working in tandem with unnamed “other agencies” to crack the case. The Independent reported that anyone with information regarding the shocking case is requested to call investigators at 936-348-2755.
