Dunki, Shah Rukh Khan’s third movie of the year, opened in theatres on Thursday. A total of ₹15.41 crore in advance tickets were purchased. On the first day of sales, 15,014 concerts had 5.6 lakh tickets sold, according to a report. According to an additional allegation on the internet, tickets for Prabhas’ Salaar, which opens in theatres this Friday, have already been sold for ₹29.35 crore.
While Salaar is being released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, Dunki is exclusively available in Hindi. For Salaar’s Friday release, more than 14 lakh tickets have been sold in India for 10,434 shows, according to a Sacnilk report. To now, the Telugu version alone has brought in ₹23.5 crore from advance bookings. Tickets worth ₹2.7 crore for Hindi shows, ₹1.6 crore for Malayalam, ₹1 crore for Tamil and ₹25 lakh for Kannada shows have been booked in advance. There is still one more day to go for the film’s opening.
Film trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan has pointed out the alleged unfair split of screens between the two big films. He tweeted on Wednesday: “Pan India Star #Prabhas’ #Salaar unlikely to release in PVR INOX due to unfair screen sharing with #ShahRukhKhan’s #Dunki. #BoycottPVRInox. “The makers have withdrawn the release of Salaar from the multiplex chains in the South Indian Markets. They won’t be releasing Salaar in any of their properties in the South Market.” “Hombale team is planning to take stern action against Ajay Bijli & PVR-Inox in the time to come as the decision has been made by him.”
Rajkumar Hirani directed the film Dunki, which has notable performances by Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover. Its foundation is an illegal immigrant.
Salaar centres around two friends, Deva and Vardha (played by Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran), who become bitter rivals and are based in the imaginary city of Khansaar. In not to mention Shruti Haasan, the film is directed by Prashanth Neel.
