Delhi Transport Hit Amid Heavy Fog Conditions On Wednesday. Visibility Nears Zero

More than 110 flights were affected at Delhi airport and 25 trains by heavy fog wrapping North India on Wednesday leading to visibility to just 50 metres. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert over “very dense fog” conditions in the national capital and adjacent areas.

Many collisions were reported on Agra-Lucknow Expressway amid heavy fog conditions. One person was killed while 12 other were injured in a collision.

Due to the conditions, a speeding truck also rammed into a house in Bareilly on Satnapur highway.

In its prediction, the IMD has alerted Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh for “dense to very dense conditions” that may prevail in the states.

In Delhi, amid fog the air quality also dropped after weeks of good air. The average drop in the air quality was reported at 381 – “very poor” as per the Air Quality Index.

The minimum temperature recorded in the national capital was 7 degree Celsius while, the maximum could rise to 24 degree Celsius.
