Dunki, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkummar Hirani, appears to be coming to an end at the box office. The movie, which debuted on December 21st of last year, faced off against the box office smash Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire, starring Prashanth Neel and Prabhas. Ceasefire brought in over Rs 400 crore, while Dunki brought in roughly Rs 225 crore.
There were high hopes for Dunki because it was the first joint project between Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkummar Hirani, and SRK was making a comeback after two record-breaking blockbusters, Jawan and Pathaan.
However, considering the subject matter and Salaar’s rivalry, the movie’s reception was a little muted. Even though the movie’s budget was reportedly only around Rs 85 crore, its creators wouldn’t suffer a loss of any type.
Dunki made Rs 160 crore in its first week of business alone. However, in week two, it experienced a 71% decline to make Rs 45 crore, and in week three, it saw yet another decline to make just Rs 15 crore.
The movie only made Rs 30 lakhs on Wednesday, bringing its total earnings to Rs 225.42 crore. The movie’s run is almost over since on January 25, Siddharth Anand’s Fighter, starring Hrithik Roshan, Anil Kapoor, and Deepika Padukone, will take its place.
