Unnao Bus Accident: 18 Dead And 19 Injured After Double-Decker Collides With Tanker On Lucknow-Agra Expressway

At least 18 people died and 19 were injured after the bus in which they were travelling collided with a milk tanker on Lucknow-Agra expressway today.

The accident took place near Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao.
Among the 18 people killed were three women and one child, said the police.

The double-decker bus was travelling between Bihar’s Sitamarhi and Delhi when it rammed into a milk tanker from behind today morning.

The accident was so huge that people were flung out of the bus and visuals from the site showed shattered glass, bodies on ground, twisted scraps of metal etc, the police said in a statement.

“Today at around 5:15 am, a private bus coming from Motihari, Bihar, collided with a milk tanker. Eighteen people have lost their lives, and 19 others are injured in the accident, ” said Unnao District Magistrate, Gaurang Rathi.

According to the officials, the injured were immediately rushed to the nearby hospital and are undergoing treatment.

Hearing about the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his grief and prayed for speedy recovery of those injured.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking to his X handle announced a compensation of ₹ two lakh to each of the family who lost their dear ones and ₹ 50,000 to those injured.
