Governor’s Son Accused of Assault and Intimidation by Raj Bhawan Staff in Odisha

An employee of Raj Bhawan in Puri, Odisha, has claimed that on July 7, the son of Governor Raghubar Das and five other people physically assaulted and threatened him. Raj Bhawan, the Governor, or the police did not, however, formally confirm the reported occurrence.

The Governor’s son Lalit Kumar is accused of violently attacking Baikuntha Pradhan, the Assistant Section Officer (ASO) working at Raj Bhawan, during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Puri Raj Bhawan on July 7 and 8, according to an official complaint submitted on July 8. The lawsuit stated that the alleged attack happened on July 7 at 11:45 p.m.

In Baikuntha Pradhan’s complaint to Governor Akash Singh, the Chief Secretary, Das’s personal chef reported that Lalit Kumar wanted to see him.

Arriving at Lalit Kumar’s room, Baikuntha Pradhan allegedly verbally and physically assaulted the government employee, Lalit Kumar, slapping, kicking, and punching him until 4:30 am on July 8, according to the complaint.

According to Baikuntha Pradhan’s accusation, he tried to flee and took sanctuary in an annexe room, but Lalit Kumar’s personal security guards violently dragged him back.

Lalit Kumar allegedly threatened the government employee, claiming that if he was killed, no one would be able to help him.

Meanwhile, Baikuntha Pradhan’s wife Sayoj Pradhan demanded legal action against the accused over the alleged attack on her husband.
