Terror Threat Prompts Heightened Security in Mumbai, Authorities on Standby

After receiving information from central authorities on a potential terror threat, the Mumbai police have increased security in high-traffic areas.

Numerous religious sites and other busy areas in Mumbai have increased security, according to police sources.

According to insiders, police officers have also been instructed to carry out “mock drills” in populated and sacred areas.

Additionally, the city’s DCPs (Deputy Commissioners of Police) have been urged to give extra consideration to the security measures in their individual zones.

Additionally, according to sources, temples in the city have been told to report any suspicious behaviour and to stay vigilant as a preventative step.

In the popular Crawford Market neighbourhood, which is home to two well-known religious institutions, police also carried out a simulated drill on Friday.

However, officials clarified that it was a security exercice in advance of the holiday season.

After celebrating the 10-day “Ganesh Chaturthi” celebration this month, Mumbai is currently getting ready for Diwali, Durga Puja, and Dussehra.

It is also expected that elections for the 288-member Maharashtra state assembly would take place in November.
