The National Conference (NC) gained backing from four Independent MLAs on Thursday, enabling it to surpass the majority threshold in the Jammu and Kashmir legislature.
According to Omar Abdullah, the NC now has 46 members after four of the seven Independent MLAs sided with the party.
With 42 seats won in the just ended Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, the NC emerged as the single largest party. The NC now holds a clear majority after its alliance partners, Congress and CPI(M), won six and one seat, respectively.
