‘New Counter-Terrorism Policy Coming Soon,’ Amit Shah Assures on Strengthening National Security

In an effort to combat terrorists and their network, the central government is going to unveil a new counterterrorism policy and strategy, according to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday. Shah further stated that the Modi administration is dedicated to eradicating terrorism and building a robust anti-terrorism ecosystem while speaking at the anti-terrorism conference in New Delhi.

According to Amit Shah, all security organisations, both federal and state, must closely coordinate, develop cooperative policies, and exchange intelligence since, although law and order is a state responsibility and states have geographical boundaries and constitutional restrictions, terrorism does not.

According to the home minister, the Centre has developed a model special task force (STF) and model anti-terrorist squad (ATS) for all states and Union territories, which will serve as a unified front in the fight against terrorism.

“We need to work together to fight terrorism, terrorists and their ecosystem. And that’s why, we will soon bring a new national counter-terrorism policy and strategy in which you all will play a key role,” Amit Shah said.

According to the home minister, the new strategy will facilitate strong coordination between states and federal authorities in the fight against terrorism.

He added that the state governments are being given access to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) pertaining to the ATS and STF models so they can modify their current models as needed. “This (adopting model ATS and STF) doesn’t reduce the rights of states,” Shah said.

According to him, everyone must address all security issues and have a cohesive ecosystem for combating terrorism if India is to become a developed country by 2047, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has envisioned.

“The nation has been advancing with a strong anti-terrorism strategy since Narendra Modi was appointed prime minister in 2014.” Our goal is to eradicate terrorism,” he declared.

The home minister stated that the administration is dedicated to eliminating the evil of terrorism and that Prime Minister Modi’s zero tolerance approach against it has now been embraced by the entire world.
