Tuesday morning saw light rain and gloomy skies in Delhi, with thunderstorms and more showers predicted by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). It’s expected that the minimum temperature will increase. However, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 243 at 7 am, the capital’s air quality remained in the “poor” category.
Bawana, Alipur, Pitampura, Mundaka, Preet Vihar, Dwarka, Lodi Road, Delhi Airport, Vasant Vihar, and Lajpat Nagar are among the locations that could see light rainfall today, per the IMD’s forecast. The minimum and maximum temperatures in Delhi are predicted to be 12.0°C and 21°C, respectively. On Monday, the reported temperature ranged from 10.2°C to 24.4°C. The humidity was found to be 49%.
This week’s weather forecast calls for a combination of rain and fog. Fog is expected to dominate the forecast starting on February 5. February 5 is expected to have moderate fog and precipitation, with February 6 and 7 seeing shallow fog. The temperature will be between 9°C and 25°C during this time. Dense fog and temperatures ranging from 9°C to 25°C are predicted for February 8 and 9, continuing the trend.
The meteorological department predicts light rain and an overcast sky in the morning when Delhi votes to choose its next administration on February 5.
Delhi experienced the warmest January since 2019. Slightly higher than the long-term average of 20.1 degrees Celsius, the month’s average maximum temperature was 21.1 degrees Celsius. The IMD data showed that nighttime temperatures were also higher than usual. Meteorologists said the higher temperatures in January were due to the absence of strong western disturbances, which usually bring rain and lower the temperature.
“This month, while western disturbances did pass through north India, most of them were feeble and did not result in substantial snowfall or rainfall,” weather expert Mahesh Palawat was quoted as saying by news agency in its earlier report.
