An Uttar Pradesh police team reached Mumbai to question the makers of Amazon Prime’s web series ‘Tandav’, which a political drama based series. According to the information multiple complaints have been filed against the makers of the series like director Ali Abbas Zafar, producer Himanshu Kishan Mehra, writer Gaurav Solanki, actors and also the head of Amazon Prime Aparna Purohit, as in the series various dialogues and actions have hurt religious sentiments.
The team reached Mumbai by train as due to dense fog they decided travel by train.
Around three FIRs in UP and one in Greater Noida have been filed against the series ‘Tandav’. The FIRs alleges that the series has depicted activities of UP police and deities inappropriately and unfavourable portrayal of a character playing the role of Prime Minister in the series.
Apart from UP, Delhi there are several other places where FIRs have been filed against the makers of the web series like Hazaratganj, Rabupura. A complaint was also lodged by a BJP MLA Vikram Veer Singh from Karta Constituency in Shahjahanpur.
Since the release of the series the cast and crew have also faced many FIRs and social media outrage. All are demanding for a ban on the series.
However, the makers of the series have apologized after two days of release in a statement saying “We have utmost respect for the sentiments of the people of our country. We did not intend to hurt or offend the sentiments of any individual, caste, community, race, religion or religious beliefs or insult or outrage any institution, political party or person, living or dead”.
With the apology the makers have also ensured for making changes in the series and thanked the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for their support and guidance in the matter.
