Brazilian Health Ministry on Thursday signed an undertaking with India’s Bharat’s Biotech for import of 20 million doses of Covaxin, the Covid-19 vaccine and the agreement said that doses will be delivered between the months of March to May.
As per the agreement Bharat Biotech will deliver first 8 million doses in the month of March. The total worth of the deal is 1.6 billion reais that is 2,90,000 US dollars.
To deal with the Covid-19 and its infectious strains Brazil has dispensed its news guidelines last week and signed this agreement to speed up the vaccination.
The country reported its second highest death toll since the pandemic began in 2020 on which Thursday which stood at 1,541 deaths. The total death toll stands at 2,51,498 in Brazil.
With 65,998 fresh cases, it has now registered total 10,390,461 cases so far. Brazil is the third most affected country by the pandemic.
