Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday said that it’s their duty to restrict any communal or fascist ruler to come in power in the upcoming polls in the state of West Bengal.
The RJD had formed its alliance with the ruling Trinamool Congress in Bengal for the polls due in March –April. Apart from Bengal RJD is also planning to content elections in the state of Assam by forming an alliance with the Congress and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) led by Maulana Badruddin Ajmal.
“It is our priority and duty to not let any communal and fascist force come into power (in West Bengal). We have decided to strengthen Mamata ji’s hands and give our unconditional support to her. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called us and we will be there, wherever she needs us,” Tejaswi told a news agency.
“It is Lalu ji’s decision to provide full support to Mamata Ji. Our first priority is to stop BJP from coming to power in Bengal,” told Tejaswi to the news agency soon after meeting the West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee.
Taking jab at the BJP campaigns in the state he expressed his doubts on the capability of the BJP leaders to run the state better then the CM Mamata Banerjee.
“The BJP is such a big party. The BJP has brought a ‘Baraat'(procession) of all the union ministers to West Bengal. Who is their groom? Name a single BJP leader who is more experienced than Mamta Banerjee in running the government. Will you hand over power to a leader who does not have any experience?” questioned the RJD leader to the BJP.
Election Commission announced eight phases of elections for West Bengal dated on March 27, April 1, April 6, April 10, April 17, April 22, April 26 and April 29.
The TMC supremo is seeking for her third term whereas BJP has challenged to win 200 seats out of total 294 assembly seats.
Results are scheduled to be announced on May 2.
