First Relief Package From US Arrives At Delhi Intl Airport

First emergency Covis relief kit has been from US has arrived India today morning amid the high daily spikes of Covid-19 cases that has collapsed the complete health infrastructure of the country. India has been reporting more than 3 lakh cases from past few days and social medias are flooded with demands of medical oxygen, remdesivir, vaccines, beds etc.

The relief kit has landed through a Super Galaxy military transporter at Delhi’s International airport. The releif package involves about one million rapid covid test kits, 400 oxygen cylinders and many other medical supplies.

Sharing a snapshot of supplies the US Embassy tweeted, “The first of several emergency COVID-19 relief shipments from the United States has arrived in India! Building on over 70 years of cooperation, the United States stands with India as we fight the COVID-19 pandemic together. #USIndiaDosti (sic).”

As a gesture of being thankful to India in their hard hard times in the pandemic US president Joe Biden earlier this week had promised India to stand by India in its hour of need. “Just as India sent assistance to the United States as our hospitals were strained early in the pandemic, we are determined to help India in its time of need,” said president Joe Biden.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with President Biden on Monday to discuss the prevailing Covid-19 situation in both the countries. “We discussed the evolving COVID situation in both countries in detail. I thanked President Biden for the support being provided by the United States to India,” said PM Modi after the conversation.

“The President pledged America’s steadfast support for the people of India who have been impacted by the recent surge in COVID-19 cases… the United States is providing a range of emergency assistance, including oxygen-related supplies, vaccine materials, and therapeutics,” a statement released by White House said.

After reporting total 1.83 crore cases so far India has become the second worst affected country in the world after US which has reported total 3.22 crore cases. While the total deaths reported in India are 2.04 lakh and in US it stands at 5.7 lakh since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Apart from US, several other countries have also come out at front to help India — UK, France, Germany, China and Russia. Today Japan has also has resolved to help India by sending 300 respirators.
