Arvind Kejriwal’s Bold Move, Promises to Campaign for PM Modi in Upcoming Delhi Elections

At the second “Janata Ki Adalat” demonstration on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at Chhatrasal stadium in the nation’s capital, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal delivered a blistering critique of the NDA government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Prior to the Delhi Assembly elections, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) challenged Prime Minister Modi to supply free electricity to the NDA-ruled states.

“There is an election in Delhi in February, I ask him to make electricity free in 22 states, I promise I will campaign for him in Delhi elections,” said Kejriwal.

Regarding the matter of law and order in Delhi, the national convenor of the AAP stated that the state of law and order has declined in the country’s capital. Kejriwal compared Delhi to Mumbai in the 1990s, stating that just as we heard about underworld rule in Mumbai in those years, it has also occurred in Delhi.

“The law and order has deteriorated. Bullets are being fired daily, there is a lot of crime. In 90’s, we would hear that there was an underworld rule in Mumbai, the same has happened in Delhi. Delhi police is with them, what was BJP doing? They are only busy in stopping the work of Delhi government,” said Kejriwal.

He continued by accusing the BJP of being anti-poor, pointing to the termination of data entry clerks and bus marshals as well as the suspension of home guard wages in Delhi.

“We brought bus marshals because ladies are harassed in Delhi buses and pickpockets are a common occurrence.” But they put an end to it,” regretted Kejriwal.

On Friday, October 4, Arvind Kejriwal was the target of a protest led by former Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel and party members, who claimed that Kejriwal had “unauthorised occupation” of a government mansion that belonged to his party MP.

Following his resignation as chief minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal moved into AAP Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal’s home at 5 Ferozeshah Road, which is close to Mandi House, on Friday, October 4.
