The Congress Party in Assam has united with five other political parties and has formed a united front ahead of the Assam assembly elections. Congress said that it has formed this alliance to fight with BJP to oust it out of power in the state.
These five political parties include CPM (Communist Party of India Marxist), CPI (Communist Party of India), CPI (ML) (Communist Party of India Marxist Leninist), AGM (Anchalik Gana Morcha) and AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front).
APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) President, Ripun Bora, told in a statement “We have united with the political parties to oust the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and save Assam”. He also encouraged other regional parties to join the united front before assembly polls.
The APCC President tweeted also on his twitter handle saying, “We invite the regional parties to join hands with us against our fight to remove the ruling Government from Assam. Our doors are open for all Anti-BJP parties”.
After the move AGM led by Ajit Kumar Bhuyan has joined the united front as of now. On joining the united front Bhuyan also spoke on the matter saying, “We believe people of Assam will support us in replacing the anti-Assamese Government led by BJP”.
