A significant terror attempt on the Army picket in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday was thwarted, although one jawan was hurt.
The attack was stopped in a distant Rajouri area, according to news reports citing PRO Defence Jammu. There was a shootout going on with terrorists right now.
A news source reported that early on Monday, suspected terrorists fired at a security post in the Rajouri neighbourhood of Gundha, prompting security authorities to establish a cordon and conduct a search.
The firing was reported at nearly 4 am, after which the security personnel retaliated, the report quoted official sources.
On July 19, two terrorists were killed as security forces foiled an infiltration attempt at the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Keran sector.
In the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, two soldiers were hurt during a confrontation with militants in the Kastigarh area.
Days prior, during the Doda incident, four army soldiers—including an officer—were slain in combat with terrorists.
