Early on Tuesday morning, a news agency claimed that Manoranjan Kalia, a leader of the Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), had been blasted outside his home. According to reports, the BJP leader is safe. After the incident, police were dispatched to Kalia’s home. Additionally, forensic specialists were observed gathering evidence from the explosion site. To find the offender, an investigation has been started.
Speaking about the incident, Kalia said, “There was a blast at around 1 am…I was sleeping, and I thought that it was the sound of thunder…Later I was informed that a blast had taken place…after this, I sent my gunman to the police station…CCTV is being investigated; forensic experts are also present here.”
According to Manpreet Singh, the deputy commissioner of police for Jalandhar, the forensic teams will examine the evidence and provide a report. Dhanpreet Kaur, the police commissioner, examined the explosion site. “Around 1 am, we got information of blast here. After which we reached the spot and started the investigation. The forensic team is investigating the matter…We are also monitoring the CCTV. The forensic team is investigating whether it is a grenade attack or something else,” she said.
Four people, including a lady, were taken into custody last month on suspicion of throwing a grenade at the home of a YouTuber from Jalandhar. Amritpreet Singh, a key culprit, was shot during a confrontation close to Chuharwali village.
Two unidentified masked males detonated explosives outside Thakur Dwara Temple in the Khandwala neighborhood of Amritsar in a different incident. The explosion broke the temple’s windowpanes and damaged its walls, but no one was hurt. Between November 2024 and February 2025, ten explosives have been detected outside Punjabi police installations.
