‘Bad Newz’ was just approved by the Censor Board for Film Certification (CBFC) with a U/A classification. Although it recommended a 27-second alteration to three private moments starring Vicky Kaushal and Triptii Dimri, it did not mandate any significant edits in the final version.
According to a source, the board insisted on strategic alteration rather than asking that any scenes be eliminated. The ‘visual of lip-lock to be adjusted’ was allegedly requested in three sequences, each lasting ten, eight, and nine seconds. Other minor adjustments requested by CBFC included enlarging the text size of the anti-alcohol warning and changing another disclaimer that appeared at the start of the movie.
The censor certificate states that the film is 142 minutes long (2 hours, 22 minutes). The romantic comedy “Bad Newz” also stars Neha Dhupia and Ammy Virk. It’s interesting to note that the songs, trailer, and other promotional materials emphasised the remarkable chemistry between Vicky and Triptii, who are starring together for the first time.
With ‘Sarfira’ doing a dreadful job at the box office and ‘Indian 2’ doing little to draw people to the Hindi market’s theatres, ‘Bad Newz’ will have an easy time opening. The only rival the movie will have to contend with is “Kalki 2898 AD,” which is still going strong in its fourth week, particularly in the Hindi belt.
The film is directed by Anand Tiwari and produced by Leo Media Collective Pvt Ltd, Manish Meghnai’s Amazon Prime, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, and Anand Tiwari. The movie “Bad Newz” premieres on July 19.
