Congress’ Revanth Reddy Set To Take Oath As Telangana’s CM. Here Is His Political Journey

Revanth Reddy smelled the coffee in 2017 and jumped ship to Congress before the Telugu Desam Party realised their return on political investment in Telangana was rapidly declining. Reddy, who is thought to be close to TDP president Chandrababu Naidu, persuaded his boss that this was the right decision for his political future and departed amicably.

Many Congress netas believe that Reddy possesses this calibre of skill—his conviction, his capacity to persuade, and his talent for foreseeing the future before others.

Reddy assumed the role of President of the Jubilee Hills Housing Society at the age of thirty. The wealthiest and most powerful celebrities reside in this area. A year before he won as a Zila Parishad member, he ran and won as an independent MLC in the 2007 local body elections. Reddy was a brilliant tactician who persuaded most of the other members to revoke their nominations, paving the way for him.

Reddy has friends everywhere and has visited all of Telangana’s big celebrations. After serving in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (later known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi), the TDP, and the Congress, he finally joined the latter.

He was victorious in the rural seat of Kodangal in 2009 and again in 2014 while running on the TDP banner. However, he was defeated in 2018. Then, from Malkajgiri, which is nearer Hyderabad, he ran for the Lok Sabha and narrowly won.

In barely six years after joining the Congress in 2017, he was Telangana’s chief minister. His path has paralleled that of Siddaramaiah, who left the Janata Dal (Secular) and briefly rose to the position of Karnataka’s chief minister in 2013.

His supporters lovingly refer to him as Revanth Anna, and he is famously aggressive. He recently gave a terrifying warning, “Count your days,” to a police officer who had come to arrest him during a campaign speech. As CM, I will be attending. I’ll send house guards to your residence to eject you.

Reddy and his supporters claim that there was no justification for the arrest and that the officer was attempting to represent politicians.

Reddy, nevertheless, is also seen as a family man. He did not watch television on December 2, the eve of the vote count, and listen to poll pundits make predictions. Rather, he engaged in playtime in his garden with his eight-month-old grandchild.

Reddy eats a lot of chicken, puris, dosas, mincemeat, and is a staunch non-vegetarian. Reddy, who chooses not to use tobacco products, loves football and is an avid supporter of Maradona. Additionally, he loves Telugu actor Krishna in movies.

Reddy claims that he joined the party because of its ideology and that he is ready to make the most of his chief ministership for the next five years.
