Deadly Attack in Chhattisgarh Claims Lives of Two Brave Jawans

An improvised explosive device (IED) attack by Naxalites in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Thursday resulted in the deaths of two jawans and the injuries of four more.

Chief Constable Bharat Lal Sahu and Constable Sater Singh of the State Task Force died while performing their duties.

The explosion of the IED took place last night in the Mandimarka woodlands near the Tarrem police station. When the pipe bomb went off, the security forces members were coming back from a counter-naxal operation.

The district hospital is now treating the injured troops, Purushottam Nag, Komal Yadav, Siyaram Sori, and Sanjay Kumar; plans are in place to transport them to Raipur for additional medical attention.

Joint teams from STF, District Reserve Group (DRG), Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were deployed on a special operation on Tuesday after receiving intelligence about the presence of Maoists from the Darbha Division, West Bastar Division, and Military Company No.2 in the border area between Bijapur, Dantewada, and Sukma districts.

Additional security forces have been dispatched to the area, and necessary arrangements have been made for the proper treatment of the injured STF soldiers.

A similar incident occurred earlier in the month in which an IED blast in the Sukma area claimed the lives of two CRPF soldiers. Around 3 p.m. on Sunday, while travelling from Silger to Tekulagudem camps as part of the CRPF’s Road Opening Party, members of the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) 201 battalion were riding in a truck when an IED explosion blew up the truck.
