Madhya Pradesh Police has finally arrested the man named Bharat Soni who allegedly raped a 12-year-old girl in Ujjain. The man is an auto-rickshaw driver.
Father of the accused Raju Soni while talking to media has given a statement that those found guilty of such heinous crimes must be severely punished.
“If my child had been in the victim’s place, I would have said the same thing. Those who commit such crimes do not deserve to live. Whether it’s my child or anyone else’s, anyone who commits such a crime should be hanged or shot, ” said the father in his statement further.
He also said that he knew about the incident and had even discussed that with his son. Despite this, his son continued his daily work silently, he said.
“He [Bharat Soni] was arrested yesterday, and I heard about the incident on the news. I had already talked to him about it earlier. He was unfazed, going about his daily activities as if nothing had happened. He asked me, ‘Where did this happen?’ and I said, ‘In Ujjain’,” said Raju Soni.
“The police have made him an accused, but the truth will come out later. He is my child, and I will support him. But we cannot control what goes on in someone’s mind,” the father also said.
“I can say that he couldn’t have done this, but if he has, he should be given strict punishment,” he added.
Accused’s father also said that a strict action must be taken in such heinous acts to deter potential offenders. “The police should just shoot them,” he said.
“We are not able to come out of shame. What should I do? I can’t understand anything. That girl could have been my daughter…If I were in his place, I would have admitted my guilt and taken the punishment,” said father of the accused.
The police arrested Bharat Soni along with detaining three others following a 12-year-old girl was found walking semi naked on a street in Ujjain city of Madhya Pradesh. The girl was bleeding as she was raped. Nobody helped her even after she pleaded for help walking 8 km.
