Gaganyaan Mission: ISRO To Launch TV-D1 To Test Mid-Flight Escape System From Sriharikota

The Indian Space Research Organization is finally going to take a step further in its mission Gaganyaan human spaceflight program with the test launch of Test Vehicle (TV-D1), a single stage liquid rocket.

The launching will take place at 8 am from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota of Andhra Pradesh today.

This TV-D1 test flight will demonstrate India’s ability to send human spaceflight of three crew members into 400-kilometer orbit for a three-day Gaganyaan mission and also making sure that they safely land in the Indian Ocean.

The test is expected to assess the mid-flight crew escape system of this early version of the Gaganyaan crew module.

The launch will be broadcasted live at ISRO’s website, DD News Channel and also on all social media platforms. This will let the public to witness the significant milestone achieved by the country’s space system.

This successful launch will prove to a milestone as it will then be opened for further qualification tests and unmanned missions. If things works as per the expectations then first Gaganyaan program with Indian astronauts can be expected in 2025.

This mission will let India join the group of elite nations capable of sending crewed spacecraft.
