According to Guna Additional SP Maan Singh Thakur, who spoke to the news agency, nine persons have been arrested thus far in relation to communal skirmishes that occurred during a Hanuman Jayanti parade in Guna, Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday night, April 11, 2025.
According to Mr. Thakur, 13 persons were slightly hurt in the altercation that broke out in the Colonelganj neighbourhood of the city at approximately 7:45 p.m. “An altercation between members of two communities resulted in stone pelting as the procession passed a mosque,” he claimed.
While the situation is normal now, police personnel have been deployed in heavy numbers across the city. According to the officer, a complaint from the Hindu community led to the filing of a formal complaint yesterday night, which resulted in the filing of a formal complaint against five identified persons and roughly twenty unknowns.
“We have arrested nine men, including the prime accused Vicky Pathan, with the help of CCTV and mobile footages. We are identifying more people involved in the incident,” Guna Additional SP said, claiming that “no complaint has been received from the Muslim side yet.” Mr. Thakur said that the procession had also been taken out without permission. “The organisers had given an information about it on April 7 but they did not take formal permission from the local administration,” he added.
“The administration is claiming that there was no permission, but I have all the proof of the permission,” said Ranjeet Khatik, one of the march organisers. When some guys yelled “Jai Shri Ram,” stones were thrown, and the other group responded by yelling “Allahhu Akbar,” he said.
According to an official, a case has been filed in response to a local corporator’s complaint, and four to five people have been named while the remaining fifteen to twenty are unnamed. According to him, security personnel from nearby areas have been stationed here.
