US President Joe Biden repealed a manifestation of his predecessor Donald Trump on Wednesday. The manifestation had banned many applicants of green card from entering the United States.
The ban was implemented by the former President Donald Trump in order to protect the US workers in the wake of rising unemployment in United States due to the coronavirus pandemic.
While abrogating the policy Biden said, the ban had prevented the families from reuniting and also have harmed business on a large scale.
The immigrants also had demanded to repeal the visa ban recently, which was due to expire on 31 March.
Biden has already made his mind to reverse Trump’s many hardline immigration policies. But with this he has banned mostly all of the foreign temporary workers.
However, there was a federal judge in California who restricted Trump’s ban on the green card applicants as they fought against the policy in the court as many US businesses were being affected.
After lifting the ban, Biden will now have to tackle the backlog of green card applications that have been held up due to the ban and this can take years to process, said Curtis Morrison, a California-based immigration attorney.
He also criticised Trump for creating the backlog and breaking the immigration system.
