Actress Kajol showed off her trademark candour and wit at the trailer release for her next movie, Do Patti, in Mumbai. She once angrily retaliated against a journalist for posing an absurd question. The idea of betrayal and deception is central to the plot of her next movie, Do Patti. A journalist, taking a cue from the plot, enquired about Kajol’s experience with betrayal. And she wasn’t happy about that.
Kajol dodged the question in her own direct manner. “Don’t be daft. I am not going to share an anecdote. It is too personal. If it is a betrayal, it is too personal. Obviously I will not (share the details),” Kajol said.
Her co-stars Shaheer Sheikh and Kriti Sanon were also present at the ceremony. Following her response to the question, Kajol turned to face her co-stars and asked if they would like to discuss any personal instances of betrayal. They also refused to share.
“We cannot share anecdotes on this topic. But we can tell you that betrayal is something that everyone experiences. If we’ve grown up as an adult, you feel it as a child sometimes, you feel it as a teenager, you will feel it as an adult and at some point in your life for sure. Otherwise, you haven’t lived life at all or you’ve been under a tree somewhere. Yes, we’ve all felt betrayal and I think we’ve portrayed it nicely also in the film,” Kajol added.
Kriti joined in and enquired as to whether the journalist had experienced betrayal. The journalist responded by saying he would personally give the details.
Police inspector Vidya Jyothi (Kajol) becomes entangled in a string of disturbing incidents involving the lives of Saumya (Kriti Sanon) and her husband, Dhruv Sood (Shaheer Sheikh), in the fictional town of Devipur, where the movie is set. The appearance of Shailee, Saumya’s alleged evil twin sister, adds a twist to the story.
The movie, which has been called a “captivating mystery thriller,” will be out on October 25. BOB, whose real name is Shashanka Chaturvedi, is the director.
