Man Having Material To Make Explosives Caught Near Obama’s Home In Washington DC

On Thursday, law enforcement officers made an arrest in the Barack Obama neighbourhood of Washington, DC, of a man they identified as 37-year-old Taylor Taranto from Seattle.

According to news sources, Secret Service officers spotted Taranto close to Obama’s house and started pursuing him. Taranto tried to sprint towards the Obamas’ house, but was stopped before he got there.

Taranto’s vehicle, which was parked nearby and carried a number of weapons and supplies that might be used to make an explosive device akin to a Molotov cocktail, was found by authorities during the arrest. However, according to News sources, the device had not yet been put together.

US officials were concerned after Taranto threatened to harm a well-known person on social media during recent livestreams. He also has an outstanding warrant for his participation in the assault on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Authorities pointed out that Taranto had been residing in the DC region for a few months and that his presence in Obama’s neighbourhood was not by chance. Numerous January 6 suspects are being housed at the DC jail, and he was frequently spotted camped out in his van there.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, Taranto is currently accused of running from the law. Fortunately, nobody was hurt in the event, though it’s still not certain if the Obamas were at home when the arrest took place.
