The Mumbai civic body on Wednesday announced that a case if XE variant has been found. However, the centre has completely denied the findings.
The INSACOG, centre’s research body said that the findings will have to re-examined. “There is a need to reconfirm the case and find out whether the sample is infected with the “recombinant” variant or multiple exposure to the virus variants. We will run genome sequencing again to check for multiple exposures,” said sources from INSACOG.
The sample of this new finding will be sent to the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG) for furthe analysis.
Although, this new strain of SARS-CoV-2 virus has already been found in several countries. In January the variant was found in UK.
