Murshid Review, Kay Kay Menon Outshines Cast in Engaging Gangster Drama by Shravan Tiwari

In the 1990s, gang battles frequently broke out in Mumbai, then known as Bombay. Newspaper headlines from that era often highlighted the underworld. The main character in Shravan Tiwari’s web series Murshid is a criminal from that era who managed to flee the underworld but, eventually, finds himself drawn back there by fate. Murshid (Kay Kay Menon), a former mafia don turned philanthropist who returns to the world of crime when his kid is in danger and receives death threats, is the main character of the story. The new web series takes you back to the chaotic underworld of Bombay and its gangster nightmare in the 1980s and 1990s, when the city was rife with crime and even the police were unable to capture mafia dons. The seven-episode series, which is supported by actors like Tanuj Virwani, Zakir Hussain, Rajesh Shringarpure, Karamveer Chaudhary, and Anang Desai, is all about politics, manipulation, competing gangs, family turmoil, and the vibrant hues of Mumbai.

Murshid Pathan (Kay Kay Menon), a prominent Mumbai underworld don in the 1990s, is the story’s protagonist. He opted to adopt Kumar Pratap (Tanuj Virwani), an orphan who went on to become a police inspector, despite having two biological children. Since he feels he is to blame for his older son’s murder, he makes the decision to quit the underworld. In light of the situation, Zakir Hussain’s character Farid replaces Murshid and seizes control of Mumbai. The biological child of Murshid joins Farid’s group and becomes mixed up in a big plan. Murshid was compelled to restore his connections to the underworld due to the situation and his fear of losing another son. The enemy, Farid, has now attained the same degree of power as Murshid achieved previously. Will this be the last competition? Is Murshid able to return with his younger son? To discover the answers to these queries, one must watch this series.

Shravan Tiwari, the writer and director, seems to have put a lot of effort into giving the story a realistic feel. He should be commended for placing the right people in the right positions. With a focus on several historical eras and a continuous transition between the past and present, this multi-layered web series will have you on the edge of your seat with its blend of secrets and narrative twists. The timeline juggling does, however, appear horrifying in certain spots. The timeline juggling does, however, appear horrifying in certain spots. The plot may seem to dwindle in a few places, but each episode closes with a tantalising hint about what will happen in the next. The banter and humour are just remarkable. These kinds of characters do pique readers’ interest, even when the author may not be attempting to elevate the mafia Don.

The star of this series is actress Kay Kay Menon. He defends the gangster status of Murshid Pathan. From the way he looks to the way he delivers the dialogue, everything about him seems so genuine. I was blown away by his performance. But actor Tanuj Virwani also made a huge impression on the audience with his performance. But actor Tanuj Virwani also made a huge impression on the audience with his performance. But every time they share a frame, Menon consistently outshines the performer. Zakir Hussain, Anang Desai, Rajesh Shringarpure, Karamveer Chaudhary, and more artists have also given strong performances in their respective roles.

Taking everything into account, director Shravan Tiwari has tried his hardest to match the best Bollywood gangster dramas. Zakir Hussain, Kay Kay Menon, and Tanuj Virwani are the pillars of the authority. With their superb acting, they have enthralled the audience and maintained the life of those characters. If you like drama about mobsters, this series is for you. Murshid is presently available for viewing on Zee5.
