An official reported that a revenue department employee in Katni, Madhya Pradesh, swallowed money he had accepted as a bribe after seeing a team from the Special Police Establishment (SPE) of the Lokayukta.
According to SPE Superintendent of Police Sanjay Sahu, the event happened on Monday when patwari Gajendra Singh accepted 5,000 as a bribe in his private office as a result of a trap set by the police.
“A Barkheda villager complained to us that Gajendra Singh was looking for a bribe. Mr. Singh took the cash, saw the SPE team, and then swallowed it. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where the staff reported that he was in good condition.
The police stated that they have opened an investigation and have lodged a case.
