The Union Budget which will be presented on 1 February is all set to begin its session today with strict observations of coronavirus situation. The budget session will continue till first week of April.
At first the President Ram Nath Kovind will address the members of both the housed seated on three locations. However, the opposition is all set to corner the government on the basis protests going in the country over the contentious farm laws passed by the center.
A senior congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that 17 opposition parties have come together with protesting farmers to boycott President’s address at the budget session.
Around 1,200 officials and staff from Rajya Sabha including the Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu have taken covid tests for the session and nobody has tested positive so far.
This is the first session of parliament after the monsoon session from last year when the monsoon session was also cut short due to the covid pandemic.
Everything is planned to function as it used to be before covid pandemic like the parliament will not only function on weekends, Question Hour will also be there and all private business will take place from this session.
However, in the covid tests conducted for parliamentarians during the monsoon session 17 Lok sabha and 8 Rajya Sabha members tested positive during the 10 day session.
