Second Dose of Covid Vaccine To be Administered Today

India has become the country to reach the target of vaccinating over 77 lakh people in the lowest number of days which are just 26 where as US took 27 and UK 48 to do so.

After the first dose of vaccination in nationwide vaccination drive o January 16, the second dose will be administered today to those who had received the first dose. The second dose should be taken after 28 days from the first dose.

NITI Aayog’s VK Paul and AIIMS Chief Dr. Randeep Guleria are among other who will be administered the second dose today. 

Around 77 lakh frontline workers and healthcare workers have been vaccinated so far out of which 97 percent of beneficiaries are “satisfied” with the results. The government told that it has set a target of vaccinating around 30 crore by the end of July.

India has become the country to reach this target in the lowest number of days which are just 26 where as US took 27 and UK 48 to do so.

Uttar Pradesh has completed the highest number of vaccinations with over 8 lakh beneficiaries while Gujarat and Maharashtra are the next behind it with over 6 lakh beneficiaries. 

In India at present two vaccines are being administered which are Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin and Serum Institute’s Covidshield. There is a possibility of availability of Russia based Sputnik which will be a third vaccine in India.
