Tragic Accident on Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway Leaves 6 Dead After Wrong-Way Entry

A horrific crash involving two cars occurred last night on the Mumbai-Nagpur Motorway, also known as Samruddhi Mahamarg, close to the Kadwanchi village on the Samruddhi Highway in the Jalna district, around 400 kilometres from Mumbai. At least six persons were killed and four injured.

Around 11 p.m., a Swift Dzire that had just refuelled joined the highway from the incorrect side and collided with an Ertiga that was travelling from Nagpur to Mumbai.

The hit was so strong that the occupants flew out of the Ertiga and onto the road, while the car was launched into the air and crashed upon the barricade along the highway. The second vehicle was a twisted pile of metal.

Images revealed the bloodied bodies of the six people who perished instantly on the highway.

As soon as they heard about the collision, the Samruddhi Highway Police and Jalna Police hurried to the scene. The automobiles were removed with the use of a crane. The district hospital has been recommended as the place of care for the injured.

The Samruddhi Mahamarg is a 701-kilometer, six-lane, access-controlled motorway located in Maharashtra that is only half operational. Nagpur, the third-largest city in the state, and Mumbai are connected by one of the longest greenfield road projects in the nation.
